Mackintosh Candida chair was part of a series designed for the holiday home of the great producer W. Bassett Lowke. The client proved to be a difficult one and the design of the table with the adjoining chairs was not accepted. However, Roger Billcliffe, who completed the catalog of Mackintosh's works, believed that the intricate details and elaborate illustrations give the artist's work an intrinsic value.
