Gufram was founded by the Gugliemetto brothers in 1966, in Italy. Gufram is a brand specialized in luxury furniture and non-conformist accessories. The design of the products retains influences from the avant-garde movement from that period. After studying the market and the trends at that time, the brothers experimented with revolutionary materials such as polyurethane foam.
In 1968, Gufram presented its products under the name of Multipli (art objects reproduced in limited edition) at the 14th Milan Triennial and, since 1972, several exhibits have been included in the permanent exhibition of the Modern Art Museum (MOMA) in New York. Currently, several Gufram creations are on permanent display at the Pompidou Center in Paris, as well as at the Denver Art Museum (USA).
Design by Karim Rashid
Karim Rashid is the creator of the incredibly sophisticated Bounce chair, a special request of Gufram's. Observing both the aesthetic requirements and the flexible material selected by the brand, the designer took this challenge as a personal mission. Bounce Chair represents the new pop style image with additional emphasis on functionality. This chair is a great choice for any room. Form follows function and the chair's geometrical elements are well proportioned so as to render the effect of comfort and refinement. Thanks to designer Karim Rashid, Bounce chair reunites technique and art in a dialogue made possible by experimenting with new and unusual materials and applications, but also by paying tribute to the nonconformist trend, which is a genetic trait of Gufram.
